Shandong's first large-scale, commercially viable single-junction perovskite solar cell recently rolled off the production line at the pilot workshop of Shandong Energy Group in the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation, marking the launch of the province's first 100-megawatt pilot production line for perovskite solar cells.
Perovskite solar cells, a type of third-generation solar technology, offer significant advantages such as high photoelectric conversion efficiency, flexible production, low light performance, short manufacturing processes, and low material costs.
The newly unveiled perovskite solar cell, with a single-unit area of 0.72 square meters and a photoelectric conversion efficiency exceeding 15 percent, addresses the challenge of large-scale production.
The launch of the 100 MW perovskite solar cell marks a significant milestone in Shandong's efforts to accelerate energy transformation and promote green, low-carbon, and high-quality development, and highlights the area's commitment to fostering cooperation with upstream and downstream partners, encouraging investment and business expansion within the area, with the ultimate goal of creating a leading and integrated photovoltaic cell industry cluster.
The Jinan start-up area will closely follow industry development trends and focus on key technological advancements. The area will prioritize the development of perovskite solar cells as a core segment of its new energy industry, driving rapid technological upgrades and cost reductions through multi-scenario demonstration applications.
